MESSAGE FROM GIJS MOM, PRESIDENT OF T2M 

On behalf of the Executive Council of the International Association for the History of Transport, Traffic and Mobility (T²M), I am very pleased to present the Call for Papers for our sixth annual conference to be held in Ottawa, Canada, September 18^th -21^st,  2008.

Each conference presents new opportunities for T²M to expand its horizons and to increase its membership.  The theme of the 2008 meeting in Ottawa is Mobility and the Environment. We are looking forward to meeting scholars, professionals and policy makers, from around the world, who share with us an interest in the movement of people, goods and ideas, and especially those seeking to understand better the tension between the growing demand for mobility, in all its forms, and the increasing concern for the environmental consequences. This promises to be a conference where the ideas, insights and arguments will likely be anything but merely academic.  

Our 2008 conference host, the Canada Science and Technology Museum, is now hard at work organizing a rich and relevant program, the details of which will be announced early in 2008.  In the meantime, I greatly encourage you to mark the dates on your calendars and to consider joining us in Ottawa.
